This non-therapeutic biosimilar uses Rituximab’s variable regions, ideal for research, reacting with human CD20—a B cell-specific 33-37 kDa transmembrane protein (aka B-lymphocyte antigen, B1, Bp35). CD20 regulates intracellular calcium, activates B cells, supports B cell immunity against T-independent antigens, expresses in pre-B/immature/mature B cells (not plasma blasts/cells) and B cell neoplasms (aids diagnosis). Rituximab depletes CD20+ cells via ADCC/CDC, eliminating B cells.
